A Unique Approach to Healing

We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all solution. We believe hard work pays off, and that therapy doesn’t end just because the session does. We’ll work together to design a treatment plan with measurable goals we can check against to ensure our time together is spent effectively.

When those goals are reached, our work together may come to an end.

In addition to standard therapy methods (integrative, strength-based, relational, etc.), we use several innovative therapies not found at all other practices.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

The Exposure part of ERP refers to exposing yourself to the thoughts, images, objects, and situations that make you anxious and/or start your obsessions. The Response Prevention part of ERP refers to making a choice not to do a compulsive behavior once the anxiety or obsessions have been “triggered.” All of this is done under the guidance of a therapist at the beginning — though you will eventually learn to do your own ERP exercises to help manage your symptoms.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a therapeutic approach that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy, people can reduce the time of the therapeutic process and experience the same benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to achieve. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can, in fact, heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

With Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we work together to help you become aware of thoughts and behaviors that don’t necessarily mesh with the reality around you. Recognizing these potentially inaccurate or negative thoughts can help you view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in efficient ways. CBT can be an effective process, both on its own and in conjunction with other therapies to treat a multitude of mental health disorders.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical behavioral therapy utilizes a group of four skills that are comprised of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Upon embracing these skills and keeping them as your own, you will have the knowledge to better identify and manage negative thinking patterns, and therefore have the ability to effect positive behavioral change.
